Children and
Westies
One question that is frequently asked about Westies is whether they are
good with children. The short answer is that they are. The long answer
lies in some of the articles and personal experiences that you will find
in this section of the CWHWTC Website. There is no doubt that the adults
must manage the children and the Westies. There are some simple strategies
for keeping peace in the house among Westies, pups, babies, toddlers and
older children, and you will find some of them on these pages. We invite
readers to send us their stories or pictures of Westies and children and
their questions about kids and Westies! (email your story/picture/question
to editors@canadawestieclub.ca
and put Kids and Westies in the subject line)

These pages also contain some activities for children about Westies. Getting
a Westie is often a long process, and children are often impatient to
have a new pup now. There are some things you can do with your children
to help them to wait more easily. Among those things are some activities
on this website - colouring pages that can be printed out and kept in
a binder, crossword puzzles and contests.
In addition, there are some
books about Westies that we would like to recommend for your children.
These are primarily written for children and some are just plain stories,
while others are about having and looking after dogs.
